Hardwood Floor Maintenance
Like any other type of flooring, hardwood floors too will wear out over time. Regular cleaning and maintenance will help your hardwood floors last longer and look new. Given below are some tips to take care of your hardwood floors:
- Remove the built-up grit from the surface of the floor by sweeping or vacuuming. Ensure the vacuum head is a brush or felt tile and the wheels are clean. Avoid using a vacuum with a beater bar
- Clean any spills immediately using a soft cloth and soft cleaning products. We recommend Woodpecker cleaner
- Using water to clean your floor can severely damage the floor and void warranties. Avoid using hardwood cleaning machines. We recommend you to use cleaning solutions such as Woodpecker cleaner or dry Swiffer
- Do not use oil soaps, liquid, or paste wax products and household cleaning solutions that contain lemon oil, tung oil, silicon, or ammonia to clean your floors. The damage caused by these non-recommended products will not be covered by warranties
- Keep your pet’s nails trimmed and its paws clean and free of dirt, gravel, grease oil, and stains
- Use protective pads to cover the legs of your furniture to reduce scratches and dents on your hardwood floor
- When moving heavy objects, furniture, and appliances, use a dolly and protective sheets of plywood to cover your floor
- Continuous exposure to the sun and its UV rays can accelerate the oxidation and aging of wood and fabrics. The stain and / or wood can fade and change color too. It’s best that you rearrange rugs and furniture so that the floor ages evenly
